What we collect

If you send an enquiry through the form on this site, we collect the information you choose to put in it: your name, your email address, optionally your business name and the type of business, and whatever you write in the message.

We do not ask for financial details, identification documents or any special category data through this website. Please do not send those through the enquiry form.

Why we use it, and on what basis

We use what you send only to read your enquiry and reply to it, and to work out what we would propose and what it would cost. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked us to get in touch, and, where you go on to engage us, the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.

We do not use enquiry information for marketing, and we do not sell or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

How long we keep it

If your enquiry does not lead to us working together, we keep the correspondence only as long as we need it to deal with the enquiry and any follow-up, and then delete it.

If you do become a client, your information moves into our client records and is kept for as long as we are required to keep it — accountancy and anti-money-laundering rules set minimum retention periods that are longer than we would otherwise choose.

Who else sees it

Enquiries are read by the people at the practice who deal with new work. We use ordinary business services such as email and website hosting, and those providers process the information on our behalf under contract. We do not transfer enquiry information outside the UK except where a provider’s infrastructure requires it, and then only with appropriate safeguards in place.

We will disclose information where the law requires it — for example, reports we are obliged to make under anti-money-laundering legislation, which we may not be permitted to tell you about.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other sites. See the cookies page for the detail.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you and to give you a copy, to correct it if it is wrong, to delete it where we are not required to keep it, to restrict how we use it, and to object to our using it on the basis of legitimate interests.

Write to us at the address above and we will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we have a chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information through this site, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
